First taste of the real working world yesterday

Now then I know why people always say that studying is way better than when you are working, and after yesterday’s event, I really truly agree to that statement. At least in school there won’t be backstabbing to that extent, there won’t be such a conflict of interest that people turn to foe overnight. Haiz I guess that’s life…

Okay, to start the story I will need to talk about what happen on Wednesday. Conflict between my colleague and the referee from Singapore tennis association (STA) first appears when the referee tried to demand for the payment of his salary through cash and not by Giro. Of course my colleague refuses because it was not the norm and they had already been paying through even way before this and have enjoyed a seemingly good relationship. The referee was quite pissed but at that point of time nothing much really happen as my colleague told him she needs to ask her boss regarding this matter.

The next day, when my colleague told my boss about this matter, she told my colleague to send an e-mail to the general manager of STA to clearly and formally clarify that all payment would only be done through Giro and PA will not pay anyone in cash. My colleague did that and even cc the email to the referee because she don’t want to do things behind his back. This is when the conflict escalated into a crisis of some sort. The referee immediately called my colleague to backstab about her poor working attitude and sloggy behaviour at work, which wasn’t true at all because it was there for most of the matches. Anyway that was only round 1….

Round 2 started during the match held that night. I was working as the game official at that time so I have a first hand account of what had happened. When the referee arrive, he just throw the file on the registration table where I was sitting then sit down and work for the match to start. Okay actually sometime things happen so I give him the benefits of the doubt that he did not did that on purpose. Anyway the weather was also not good yesterday as it rain suddenly after the game start for approximately 5 minutes. He then starts to hint the players from both teams to reach an internal agreement to postpone the match. Of course it cannot be done this way as it will result in a makeup match on Friday and we will also have to pay the referee even if the match was cancel or postpone. So we had to insist on following the rule of the game which is to wait 1 hour starting from the match scheduled start time to see how.

Miraculously, the rain stops around 8.45pm. At that time, 1 match had been postponed to Friday as it is running out of time and it is now scheduled for another match, which supposed to start at 8.30. At that time, we requested for the player to mop the court that they are playing to ensure it is dry. However he suddenly starts to fight for the rights of the players, stating that it is not the responsibility of the players to mop the court after the rain as it is not stated in the rules and regulations. He then says loudly to the players to mop the court only if they want to and we cannot do anything to them if they don’t want to mop. Like that of course they don’t want to mop. He again exclaims that matches cannot be played because of the wet floor even if the sky clears.

I think the reason for this is because he wants to go home early as he will still get the pay. At that time, both me and my colleague were quite pissed with him firstly for his cocky attitude and secondly for making things difficult for us. So we decided to play a waiting game with everyone. We insisted that they mop the floor before they can play. Time slowly passes and it’s now 9.15pm. The players are finally sick of all the waiting and are now willing to mop the floor. I mean this is the obvious choice as firstly they might as well get it over and done with so that they can go home and secondly they will not need to come down all the way from their work, home or school again for the rescheduled match. Anyway the match finally ends at 10pm, much to the relief of everyone.

Now I know the dark side of working life and how difficult things can be if the person you are working with refuses to cooperate and side by your side during problem. Maybe things wouldn’t become this ugly if my colleague did not email and cc the mail to him, thus making him loss face; however it is really very unprofessional for an international referee to make things difficult for the organization staff, and worst of all bit the hand that feeds him. Haiz… my colleague told me that she will have to talk to her boss about it and to come out with a remedy to this, however whatever the case, I think the coming matches we will really encounter and difficulties and resistance… thinking of it makes me sign with disgust over how ugly some people really is…

It’s been a while since school has started… many things to worry about, like the school fee that is due soon, the endless books that I have to buy and sell, the stupid modules to take and drop, the tutorial timing, endless presents to buy, friends to meet out with and planning timetable so that there will be people to eat and go home with *hint hint*...

Anyway nothing much getting on my nerve these days so actually that’s nothing much to talk about. Very bored of working actually but because of the promise to my colleague I had to work both weekend as well as Wednesday, resulting in the lack of rest. My course is also so !@#$% that almost all my lessons start after 4 everyday, and there is also a high possibility that I will have lessons everyday...

Haiz... what to do! I guess I will have to endure 2 more years… Sian x infinity...

Why so people just suck!!

Have you ever meet those people have those kind of freaking mind that likes to install fear within others? Or what about those greedy (ex)friends of yours from MLMs who think that other people are also as greedy? Or what about those losers who always love to boost about their love life especially to singles like me? Or what about those people who always think that they are more superior to others? Or what about people who love to backstab behind your back? And the list goes on and on…..

THESE PEOPLE SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

Really have no idea why some people are like that! There’s one guy who got attached to a girl recently. Knowing I’m single he purposely chats with me on MSN and hint to me that he’s attached. From his tone, it’s damn obvious he is showing off with his new girlfriend to me! So damn piss of with him! No wonder my other friend, the one he used to chase, used to block him on MSN. He sucks and most of the girls from his course will know who I am referring to! Most of the time in this case I will always hope they break up quickly… Wahahahaha evil me…

And there’s another incident with another person. We don’t usually contact each other but that’s one period when he keeps contacting me, asking me to come out for dinner. I had rejected him many time but he keep insisted on meeting for dinner. Something is very fishy, as I ask him whether he’s in MLM or selling insurance. He said no and he told me that it is because it had been a long time since we meet out for lunch. I was a bit guilty and so I became soft heart and went to meet out with in. Worst mistake as I in the end spend 2 hours listening to MLM talk!! Sorry loh but I HATE MLM!!! MLM is for cheaters who try to profits at the expense of their friends and families. Talking about money, I won’t trade friendship and families for it! (At least not in the near future… Wahahaha) I may be poor but there is some money I will not want myself to be associated with…

Ooph! And there is 1 type of people who are the worst of these lots…

AND THEY ARE THOSE PEOPLE WHO ASK ME WHETHER I WILL BE BECOMING AN REAL ESTATE AGENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guidelines for Platonic Friendship

1. No hugging for greetings or salutations. Hugging is only allowed for personal tragedies or blessed events when the emotional significance of the situation blocks out the knowledge that your boobies are pressing against me. We have hands; lets shake them.

2. No sleepovers. I think of all women who sleep in bed with me as potential sex partners. I spend all my free time trying to coax women in, so if you get in there, I can’t help but think you want some. If you or I need a place to crash sometime, then we should employ a couch. The breaking of this rule is punishable by instant sex.

3. No seat sharing. When girls sit on the arm of my chair or in my lap or next to me in a one-person seat, it makes me think that she wants some sexing. A possible exception is fitting an extra person in a car that is filled to capacity. I can’t let my passion hurt the quest to maximize a designated driver, but be warned; it might not be the seat belt poking you.

4. No flirting. So if you laugh at a joke of mine, it better be a funny joke.

5. No judgment making on any girl that I see. Good or bad, it’s the guy friends' job to belittle and pick apart girlfriends, if a woman does this, it means she wants the guy for herself. So you think she is trashy and dumb? Well, you could have dated me but you just wanted to be friends.

6. No judgment making on how I treat any girl I might date, be it for six months, or six hours. You have thrown your log onto the fire of chauvinism in my heart, so you are partially to blame if an innocent girl gets burned.

7. No sparing of my feelings. It’s emasculating. Don't worry, you already broke my heart, go ahead and heap more crap on me. I’ll turn all embarrassment and pain into bitterness and anger, and then occasionally let it all out in some meat headed act.

8. No setting me up on pity dates. If you truly know of a woman who would be very happy with me and I with her, then we will talk.

9. No being attracted to me. Impossible, I know, but you seem to have found a way, so stick with that. I’m going to be as attractive as possible in pursuit of other women, so if you are going to be seeing me in a bathing suit, you might want to make sure you are on the pill as the breaking of this rule is punishable by instant sex. In fact, don’t even tell me I look good as that will torment me for days.

10. No confiding in me about boys. I am not your girl friend; I am your reluctant man friend who officially hates all men that you date now or in the future. Asking for hypothetical guy advice is okay; just don’t slam me with details about particular guys you are sleeping with. If this rule seems contrary to rule 7, just remember that I’m a beautifully complex being.

11. No asking for man favors such as furniture moving, yard work, or car trouble help. I don't like to waste displays of extreme masculinity on women who have decided not to sleep with me. In a pinch you can bribe me to do man chores with beer. Please hand me the case as a gift versus doling them out one at a time from your fridge. That keeps it strictly business.

12. Try to avoid incidental contact. I can't outlaw this since there are times when the brush of a leg or a sleeve is purely accidental, but try to be careful. You can take steps to not put your arm in mine while walking or lay against me on a couch or other things like that. Those things would lead me to think you want me to sex you.

13. No asking for massages or neck rubs, that’s a lot of foreplay to waste on someone who doesn't want the main event. Besides, shouldn’t your boyfriend give you massages? Why aren’t we dating again?

14. No dating any guy who treats you bad or neglects you in any way, that’s just a slap in my face. I fucking adore you.

15. No judgments on any of my behavior. It would lead me to think you care a little too much about my well being. So I don't want to hear any, "Stop smoking", or "Don't drink so much," or "Don't use women." Of course if I am truly being an asshole in some situation, feel free to clue me in, that’s what friends do.

16. You have to let me know immediately if you want to be more than friends. I’m only doing this to respect your wishes. If you ever want more, rest assured that I do too. At any moment we can tear these guidelines up and spend 24 hours doing every imaginable sexy act.

(The post below is highly sensitive and please do not read if you are a Christian...)

I always thought that love is something so strong that people are willing to die for it, remember Romeo and Juliet, or Liang Shan Bo and Zhu Yin Tai? But in reality, there is something much more difficult to conquer, more important than life for some, and that is religion…

I mean, wtf!? Life is like something that is the most important in this world, and everything that one’s do actually revolving around it, and wtf is something that is imaginary, non-existence and maybe to some extent “fake” have such a large and overbearing influence over one’s life, over one’s choice of action and even something like love, which is so sacred and beautiful…

I had heard of many stories about how Christian and non-Christian parted because of religious reasons. Anyway what is wrong with couples with different religious background? Will it affect their mindless pursuit to go heaven (something that may not even exist in the first place)? Looking around the world, there is no evident that supports the notion that couples with different religion results in unhappy marriages. Can’t different religions co-exist peacefully? Can’t a Christian accept someone as what they are, irregardless of religion? Why are they always so over-protective over their own religion, and sometime to the extent of defaming the religion of others?

Actually it’s not that I don’t like Christian. I had quite a number of good friends who are Christians. It’s just that I feel that religion shouldn’t have such an overbearing influence over one’s life. It should only guide oneself to a certain extent and not treat everything (such as catching a cab) as a blessing from god, which is totally senseless to me!!

Actually I am just silly to talk about something so sensitive, but after seeing people around me getting hurt because of something so stupid just makes me go nuts!!!

Maybe they just need to wake up their ideas!!!!!!!!!
